Make it a Masters Series Evening at the Museum this Thursday, Oct. 11. Gary Tinterow, newly named director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and former curator of European paintings at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, will discuss Édouard Manet’s fondness for Spanish art and for the artist Diego Velázquez in particular. The free presentation begins at 6 p.m. Prior to the event, visitors can enjoy music and refreshments in the Main Museum Café from 4–6 p.m. Tickets for the pre-lecture food and one drink are $15 for members, $20 for nonmembers. Manet: Portraying Life will be open to Masters Series attendees with exhibition ticket until 10 p.m. for viewing after the presentation.
