TMA to Offer Extended Thursday Evening Hours

The Toledo Museum of Art will offer extended Thursday evening hours, experimental programs and Museum Café selections as part of a realignment of its hours to better serve young adults.

Called TMA Thursday, the new hours are designed to increase accessibility for visitors with different schedules and to enable the Museum to experiment with diverse programming options for those looking to start the weekend a bit earlier. All main Museum and Glass Pavilion galleries will be open Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., an additional five hours.

TMA Thursday was inspired by the popularity of our ongoing weekly program It’s Friday! and the desire to attract visitors ages 24–45 to the Museum.

The addition of evening hours on Thursdays is part of an overall change in Museum’s hours of operation. Beginning July 1, the new operating hours will be:

  • Tuesdays and Wednesdays: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Thursdays and Fridays: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sundays: Noon to 5 p.m.

The Museum will continue to be closed on Mondays and major holidays.

TMA Thursday is supported in part by Huntington Wealth Advisors

Let’s hear it for extended hours on Thursdays!

I’m very excited about the new extended hours on Thursdays, but at the same time I am equally disappointed by the shorter Friday hours. I’m not able to get to the museum as often as I would like, but when I do go, it’s typically for a Friday evening, and often after dinner. I usually realize that it’s nearly 10 and the museum is about to close far before I’ve finished seeing everything that I would like to see, and 10 always seemed like the perfect time to wrap up a delightful evening. Hope this isn’t permanent.

I Love the museum. I don’t get here often enough to see all the wonderful exhibits and the works of such masters of mediums… from oils, to fabric and textiles, and acrylics to bronze and precious metal works, including paintings and three dimensional art. WOW, such a variety of visuals and history from diverse cultures. I think I just talked myself into a visit here soon. I can hardly wait. I’ll be sure to invite some friends too. Thank You for having all this ready and available for the community. What a treasure that needs to be promoted, especially since it’s FREE to all who visit. Thank You, Thank You, THANK YOU… for adding so much to my life experiences. Veronica Fischer.

What a great idea! I know the extended hours will allow me to visit more frequently.

We are trying out new hours for the immediate future and will evaluate in about six months. The 9-10 p.m. hour on Friday is typically very slow, with most visitors leaving by 9. I know you are not among that group, for which I am sorry. We based the new hours on visitor patterns and a desire to do experimental programming on Thursday evening.
