Workshops for young aspiring writers are underway and will be making a few stops at the Toledo Museum of Art.
WordShop, a series of free creative writing workshops developed by Women’s Initiative of United Way, will be at TMA for four consecutive Sundays on July 21, July 28, August 4 and August 11. Each of these programs runs from 1–3 p.m. and is open to both boys and girls in grades 1–5.
WordShop consists of in-class writing, writing field trips and themed workshops. The first workshop was held on June 29 at Swan Creek Metropark, and each class is held at one of the Toledo Metroparks, the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library or the Museum. Young authors can also admire an exhibition of Wordshop-created books on view at the Main Library branch from July 8 through August 24 to learn more about the program.
Visitors to the TMA programs will tour the collection and then write their own storybook. Each participant will leave with a copy of their own work.
Registration is requested for this free program. Contact Tami Duvall at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 419-254-4683 to register and guarantee a spot. Walk-ins will also be accepted if space is available. Class sizes are limited to 20 students.
