In an effort to support diversity and workforce development in Northwest Ohio, the KeyBank Foundation announces a $400,000 grant to the Toledo Museum of Art for the establishment of an endowment fund. The KeyBank Fellowship Endowment Fund will support the creation of a KeyBank Fellowship for minority candidates interested in museum leadership careers.
“This fellowship will not only provide the experience needed in the next generation of museum leaders, but will focus on recruiting candidates that reflect the diverse population of the region,” said Museum Director Brian Kennedy.
The Toledo Museum of Art is known for its renowned art collection, sustainability practices, visual language and art education initiatives and innovative leadership. The Museum has had a fellowship program in place for three years to provide leadership training, mentoring and experience at the executive level for post-doctoral candidates. The new fellowship will expand the program to help art museums remain relevant in their communities by training leaders from underrepresented groups.
At its quarterly Board of Trustees meeting, the KeyBank Foundation announced the approval of $1.9 million in new major grants to be awarded to Ohio-based community organizations. These grants are in addition to the 379 grants totaling more than $2.7 million already awarded by the Foundation earlier this year, as well as the multi-year grants in which the Foundation is currently engaged.
“We are extremely proud of the grants we have chosen to award this quarter,” said Margot Copeland, executive vice president and chair of the KeyBank Foundation. “Our work with the selected groups represents both our belief in their missions, as well as our Foundation’s goal of promoting economic self-sufficiency within our community.”
