Darra Goldstein isn’t a household name, but according to discerning foodies, she should be. The food and cultural journal she founded, Gastronomica, has earned high marks since its inception in 2001, including a recent James Beard Foundation award for Publication of the Year and a spot on Saveur magazine’s top 100. Now Dr. Goldstein will bring her unique knowledge of food and cookbook history to the Museum as part of its Masters Series on Thursday, February 19 at 6 p.m. in the Peristyle. The author and editor will present a free talk, titled Looking at Cookbooks Seven Centuries of Visual Feasts, which reveals the kitchen manual’s role as an aesthetic symbol of our culture. The Masters Series is sponsored in part by the TMA Ambassadors.
