In Taschen’s new David Hockney monograph, A Bigger Book, we see the British artists’s oeuvre unfurled across immersive, sumo-sized pages.
A Bigger Grand Canyon, Bigger Trees Near Water, A Bigger Splash—even the Toledo Museum of Art’s own A Bigger Card Players—are all reproduced in splendid color alongside Hockney’s drawings, photo-composites, multi-perspective collages, stage designs, multi-camera video works, and iPad drawings.
The massive book was recently added to the Museum Reference Library’s collection, where visitors can delight in the visual survey of more than 450 Hockney works. “I don’t tend to live in the past,” the artist said. “Working on this book, I see quite how much I have done.”
