ttouch_toursDocents are equipping a select group of visitors with gloves and asking them to break the museum world’s cardinal rule: do not touch. Touch Tours, designed by TMA and The Sight Center of Northwest Ohio, introduce people with visual impairments to sculpture by allowing them to experience the works of art with their hands. “To feel a Rodin-sculpted muscle—it gives them a whole dimension that a sighted person wouldn’t have,” says docent Mary Anne Muller. The innovative offering, started in April 2014, is avialable to visitors by request. To schedule, call 419-255-8000 ext. 7363.
