Animal characters – from Clifford the Big Red Dog to the mischievous black cat known as bad Kitty – capture imaginations just as easily as their human counterparts do in the world of children’s literature. Now those and other beloved pets will be explored in the upcoming exhibition Best in Show: Animal Illustrations from the Mazza Collection, on view from February 13 to July 5. The free Gallery 18 display will feature 50 works from the 1930s to the present on loan from Findlay, Ohios’ Mazza Museum, the largest museum of original artwork by children’s book illustrators in the world. Presented by marathon Petroleum Corporation.
