Maddy Vesoulis

2nd Place

Beautiful innocence
threatened by shadows.
Safe place to perch?
Don’t let it fool you.
Somber roses,
nightshade flowers.
Take flight!
Beautiful deceivers
wade in white.
Eerie calm and quietness,
beautiful innocence
by shadows.
Inked blossoms
dangerous appeal.
No first kiss
lost innocence?
Take flight!
Wicked chore,
deviously intertwined.
Center stage
shadows slowly feed on surrounding colors.
ethereal petals.
Eerie placidity creeps into the room
as another crippled and somber blossom falls.
