This print shows everyday life in the Tuscan province of Siena at the turn of the 20th century. The province is known for its agriculture, especially its wine. Siena is part of the region of Tuscany, located in west-central Italy, whose capital city is Florence.
Much like Whistler before him, MacLaughlan would often ignore historic ‘tourist’ attractions and concentrate on the life and architecture of the unknown or less travelled areas of a town, village, or countryside.
