A City on the Shore

A city on the shore,
thriving no more,
business has died,
influential people have lied.
Visions of the past are shown,
but nothing seems to have grown.
History seems to repeat,
so true for defeat;
this becomes chronic,
how isn’t that ironic?
A new day will come,
when we escape from this slum;
through the breaking of clouds,
comes the roaring of the crowds.
A new future dawns clear
for the ones we hold dear,
and empty no more –
A city on the shore.
