Libbey Glass and Industrial Design

In the 1920s social tastes and economic pressures moved Libbey away from luxury Brilliant Cut glass towards increasing production of lower-cost machine-made wares.

Libbey enrolled its engineers in the Toledo Museum of Art School of Design’s Dynamic Symmetry classes and began to seek talent from the new field of industrial design.

By the 1930s, Libbey had adopted some of the most progressive measures for that time to create well-designed products for American consumers.
