Art Hours are hands-on, hour-long classes that give participants the opportunity to make a variety of glass projects. Enjoy Art Hours with family or friends, or fly solo to get a taste of glassmaking. Sign up for different or multiple Art Hours to make various glass works. No two objects are alike.
Depending on the project, try your hand at flame working or hot sculpting. Flame working employs a torch to melt rods and tubes of clear and colored glass. The molten glass is then formed with a variety of tools and hand movements. In hot sculpting, a mass of molten glass is gathered from the furnace and then blown and shaped at the end of a rod.
Tickets ($15 members, $30 nonmembers; no refunds) can be purchased in person or by phone during Museum hours starting the Tuesday before each session. Open to adults and children 14 and up. Call (419) 254-5771, ext. 7448.
Art Hours are typically held on Fridays at 6, 7 and 8 p.m., and on Saturdays afternoons in the Glass Pavilion. Some exceptions occur. Check the TMA calendar for upcoming classes.
Note:Most items created in Art Hours require a 24-hour annealing (finishing) process. Items created on Friday, Saturday or Sunday will be available the following Tuesday.
