The Captive

I am captivated by you, my exquisite butterfly,
I have captured you, yet you capture me
I hold in trembling hand your delicate wings
You hold in your mystique, the depth of liberty

My wings, like yours define, identify
Ethereal, mythical, sometimes forgotten
Reflecting the light, piercing the breeze
Moving the body, releasing the soul

How profound is your metamorphosis
From one who crawls to one who glides
And mine, similarly profound
From one who captures, to one who frees

I am captivated by you, my captive, my friend
No longer will I hold your trembling wings
Go, enthrall, rejoice, renew
I, for one, will never be the same.
