Interim Director John Stanley receives special recognition from Toledo Museum of Art Board of Directors
On Friday, April 24, the Toledo Museum of Art (TMA) Board of Directors held a special board meeting in which they voted unanimously to recategorize John Stanley’s tenure as interim director of TMA. He will now be recognized as the 10th director of the Toledo Museum of Art and its second Edward Drummond and Florence Scott Libbey president, director and chief executive officer.
Current board chair Randy Oostra and the past five board chairs – Cynthia B. Thompson, David Welles, Jr., Elizabeth Brady, James Hoffman and George Jones – brought forth the resolution acknowledging Stanley’s accomplishments and his distinguished service to TMA during his time leading the institution.
“John guided the Museum with compassion for his colleagues, quiet and experienced leadership, and a dedication to invest in TMA’s core assets,” said Oostra. “Under his tenure many improvements were made at the Museum, which put it in a strong position at the start of the coronavirus pandemic.”
Stanley will continue on at TMA in a senior advisor role.
