The Great Art Escape - Day 1

The Toledo Museum of Art comes alive during its annual winter celebration The Great Art Escape. Bring family and friends to celebrate the season with a diverse array of events from December 28 through December 30. Enjoy performances throughout the galleries, stop by the family center, watch glassblowing demonstrations in the hot shop, and much more. View the full three day program here.

Admission to the Museum during the Great Art Escape is FREE and standard parking rates apply; free for members or $10 for non-members.

Show off your creativity with winter-themed arts and crafts when the Toledo Museum of Art transforms the Family Center into a winter wonderland. There will be fun for children of all ages.

Paper Cutting, Cocoa & Cookies with Mary Gaynier 
11AM – 3PM in the GlasSalon

Join local artist Mary Gaynier for cocoa and cookies, in our GlasSalon, as she instructs the local community on the art of paper cutting. You’ll get a chance to create paper snowflakes which will be displayed in our very own Glass Pavilion. There is also a small prize if you can find Mary’s Abominable Snowman “Scissor Blizzard” located throughout the Glass Pavilion.

TMA kicks off the Great Art Escape holiday movie screenings with the 1983 Classic: A Christmas Story. Set in the early 1940’s, a young boy named Ralphie Parker wants one wish for Christmas: a Red Ryder Action Air Rifle. Enjoy this heartwarming, hysterical and sweetly nostalgic film.

Art of Glassblowing Demonstrations

Watch our team of studio glass artists as they create whimsical pieces inspired by your favorite childhood stories. Pieces are available for purchase after the demonstration. 

Dutch Cabinet Organ Performance: Pamela Stover

The concert you’ve been waiting for! Let the sound of the pipes, from the museum’s Dutch Cabinet Organ, built in 1785 drift you away. Performances by local members from the Toledo Chapter American Guild of Organists.
