Please join us for a very special event as we welcome Toledo Opera Singer Ebone Waweru as our guest in celebration of Black History Month.

She will read a story: "Leontyne Price: Voice of a Century" by Carole Boston Weatherford illustrated by Raul Colón and perform Margaret Bonds arrangement of “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands,” a traditional African American spiritual first published in 1927.

Leontyne Price commissioned, "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands," from Margaret Bonds, an African American composer, arranger, and lecturer, in 1963. This famous was made famous by Marion Anderson and Leontyne Price- an important figure in the struggle for African-American artists to overcome racial prejudice in the United States during the mid-twentieth century.

This event is in collaboration with the Toledo Opera.

This virtual event is free, but advanced registration is required; the live-stream link will be emailed to participants in advance of the session.
